Nawal is a leader in shaping the UAE’s hydrogen future. As Director of the Future Energy Department at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, she led the development of the UAE National Hydrogen Strategy 2050, positioning the UAE as a global hydrogen hub. Nawal was named Hydrogen Person of the Year at the 2024 World Hydrogen Summit and played a key role in COP28 negotiations, advancing hydrogen diplomacy and international collaboration. She actively mentors future energy leaders through national and global capacity-building programs and promotes women’s leadership in the hydrogen sector through organizations such as Women in Green Hydrogen.
