Carol was appointed Vice President, Planning and Stewardship, for ExxonMobil in May 2023. In this role, she leads the team responsible for developing ExxonMobil’s corporate plan and internal performance reporting. Carol has over 35 years of experience with ExxonMobil and Imperial Oil in Canada. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering (with distinction) in 1986 from the University of Manitoba, Canada. Carol began her career as an operations engineer in Calgary. Since then, she has held varying positions of increasing responsibility in Canada and the USA, in strategy, planning, operations, engineering, technology, and project management.
From 2013 to 2017, Carol was Engineering Vice President for ExxonMobil’s Upstream Research Company, a position that she held for 4 years. In 2017, she moved to ExxonMobil’s Corporate Strategy office as strategy advisor. While there, she led efforts to improve ExxonMobil’s core business processes like opportunity evaluation and capital management, enterprise risk, and corporate planning. Immediately prior to her current assignment, Carol was the Corporate Planning Manager for ExxonMobil Corporation.
Carol serves on several academic and industry boards. She is a member of the Visiting Executive Committee for the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas and the Advisory Board of the Women’s Global Leadership Conference in Energy. She has also worked extensively with the United States National Petroleum Council and the International Energy Agency, where she chairs the Industry Advisory Board.
Carol currently lives in Houston, Texas. She is an avid health nut and runner, and enjoys cooking, travel, and all things outdoors. When she isn’t working, she can be found hanging out with her children, grandchildren, extended family and many friends. Carol is known both inside and outside the office for her authenticity, passion, creativity, and commitment to support others to be their best.
